Frequently Asked Questions

What types of courses can I choose for my child?

With Harmony, you can mix and match courses from online programs and traditional textbooks. This flexibility allows you to create a curriculum that best suits your child’s learning style and interests.

How do I access the allotment funds for educational resources?

You have two options: Submit a wish list, and Harmony will purchase and deliver the items directly to you, or buy the approved items yourself and request reimbursement.

What kind of support will I receive during the school year?

Harmony provides personalized support through dedicated mentors and certified teachers who are here to guide you every step of the way. Whether you need help selecting curriculum, tracking progress, or navigating the program, our team is available to answer your questions and ensure your child’s success.

Can my child participate in extracurricular activities at local schools?

Participation in extracurricular activities at local schools may be available, but eligibility can vary by school and grade level. Many schools have specific guidelines for student participation. For the most accurate information on what’s available in your area, we recommend reaching out to LeAnn, who can provide details on your specific school’s policies.

What happens after I submit the enrollment application?

Once you submit your application, our team will review it and send you an email with next steps. After acceptance, you’ll complete a short orientation and can begin building your child’s curriculum.

What’s the difference between school-at-home, public school, and homeschool, and how does Harmony Ed bring them together?

Public school typically involves students attending a traditional school building with set schedules, while homeschooling is directed entirely by parents with no connection to public school systems. School-at-home combines elements of both, providing structure, curriculum, and resources similar to public school but with the flexibility and independence of homeschooling.

Harmony Ed bridges these systems seamlessly. Through partnerships with public schools, we offer families the freedom to customize their child’s education with tuition-free funding, while still meeting state standards. Parents can mix and match online and textbook-based curriculum, and students can participate in extracurricular activities at local schools—all with the personalized support of dedicated mentors and certified teachers.

Return Policy for Technology and Resources

Harmony Ed provides technology and educational resources to support your child’s learning journey. These items are provided as part of the program and must be returned if the program or school year is not completed.

Return Requirements:

  • If your child withdraws or does not complete the school year, all provided technology and resources (such as laptops, tablets, and other materials) must be returned to Harmony Ed.
  • Items must be returned in good working condition.

Return Process:

  1. Contact your assigned mentor or Harmony Ed support to initiate the return process.
  2. Harmony Ed will provide instructions for shipping or drop-off.
  3. Ensure items are packaged securely to avoid damage during transit.

Failure to Return Items:

If the technology or resources are not returned within the specified timeframe, Harmony Ed reserves the right to charge families for the cost of unreturned items.

What is Harmony Ed’s relationship with the Chatham School District?

HarmonyEd partners with the Chatum School District to provide families with flexible, tuition-free educational options. This collaboration allows students to remain enrolled in the public school system while benefiting from HarmonyEd’s personalized learning programs. Families have access to allotment funds, mentors, certified teachers, and curriculum choices, ensuring students receive the best of both worlds—public school resources and the flexibility of homeschool-style education.

This partnership enables HarmonyEd to support families in meeting state education standards while offering the freedom to customize learning experiences that align with their child’s unique needs and interests.

When can I enroll my child in Harmony Ed Alaska?

Enrollment for the upcoming school year in Harmony Ed Alaska begins each year at the end of January. Spots are limited, so enrollment will remain open until all spaces are filled or October 1—whichever comes first. To ensure your child has a place, we encourage you to apply as early as possible!
